Craig,

The SS Monsoon pumped -13°c brine from 16 meters depth for several days. The pumps (2) often were run at the same time as we were running ice meltwater through filtration systems in order to clean the ice hole before entering the lake.

Despite not getting into the lake we were successful in sampling brine (through the use of the pumps) that had seeped into the ice hole.

This brine has never been sampled and has been isolated from the atmosphere for thousands of years. We are currently writing papers on our findings.

Thanks again for your assistance. We will be trying again and we look forward to using the pumps in the next attempt.

Thanks!
